Very little is known about the windmill. It is believed to date from the 18th century, but it first appears here in records from 1845, when it is thought to have been moved from Owmby Mount. The lease on the land there ended and was not renewed, so the mill was relocated – a fairly common occurrence at the time.The windmill is believed to have worked until just before the Great War. Most of the structure was demolished in the 1920s, but the roundhouse remains and can still be seen when you visit The Windmill Room.
